Design of rural roads considers the present and future impacts of climate risks such as flooding, erosion or landslides. The cost-effective climate adaptive design features are used. For DBST and concrete roads, a road safety audit will be conducted at draft design, final design and post-construction stages according to international good practice.
The capacity strengthening and budgeting for the rural road maintenance are key consideration for the project to ensure long-term sustainability of the road and benefits for the beneficiaries, and road-safety.
